The process
How Kithera works.
Kithera is an early pilot. Here's what happens when you submit a request — and what we can and can't promise.
Start with your trip.
Finding childcare away from home usually means scattered information, unanswered calls, and a lot of uncertainty. Kithera is trying to make that search less difficult. We're beginning with a small pilot: real requests, real follow-up, honest answers about what we find.
Tell us what you need.
Submit a request with your destination, travel dates, your child's age, and the hours or days you'd need care. The more context you share — the reason for your trip, any specific needs, your flexibility — the better we can understand your situation.
- No account or registration required.
- Submitting is free.
- You can include multiple children.
We review your request.
A person reads every request. We look into local options that may fit your destination, dates, and child's age — checking what programs exist, whether they accept temporary or visiting-family enrollments, and what their requirements typically are.
- We aim to respond to every request, but can't commit to a specific timeframe.
- We'll be honest if we can't find anything suitable.
- This is a pilot — capacity is limited.
We follow up by email.
If we find options worth sharing, we'll explain what we've learned: what programs exist, what they typically require, and what still needs confirming directly with the provider. We'll also flag anything we couldn't determine.
- We share what we know — and what we don't.
- No booking is made on your behalf.
- You decide whether to pursue any option.
You confirm directly with the provider.
Availability, eligibility, paperwork, fees, and care arrangements must be confirmed directly between you and the childcare provider. Kithera helps with the search — we don't manage bookings, payments, or the care itself.
- Providers set their own requirements and fees.
- Temporary enrollment policies vary widely.
- Some providers may require advance notice of several weeks.
What affects whether we can help.
Not every request will result in options. Several factors influence what we can find:
About this pilot.
Kithera is at an early stage. We're running a small pilot to learn from real trips and real conversations — not to promise a service we haven't built yet.
Every request is reviewed by a person. We follow up by email. We're honest about what we can explore and what we can't. If we can't help with a particular request, we'll say so.
Submitting a request starts a conversation. It doesn't reserve childcare, create an account, or commit you to anything.
